In the 24-year history of the World Golf Rankings, Tiger Woods has been No. 1 for a total of 598 weeks. Greg Norman remained top one for 331 weeks. But it seems that now Tiger Woods is likely to miss No. 1 position in coming days as Phil is ready to take it.

Phil Mickelson is just 31 points behind Tiger Woods who is enjoying 258-week records in World Golf Rankings. In recent match Phil Mickelson got second position in Quail Hollow Championship. Tiger Woods failed to make the cut 1 in Quail Hollow Championship.

The last four times Woods and Mickelson played together; three of them are won by Phil and in forth he was on second. Mickelson could reach the top spot in the world ranking by winning The Players Championship, if Tiger Woods finishes out of the top five.

2010 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational has completed the first two rounds. Mickelson shot a 2-under 68 on Friday to remain a shot out of the lead. Phil Mickelson was moving one shot behind halfway leader Retief Goosen at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Mickelson was on six under with 36 holes to play after a second round 68. Woods for a two over par 72 and was 13 strokes off the lead on six over and in a tie for 72nd.

US PGA Championship 2010 Second Round Leaderboard, Tee Time

US PGA Championship 2010

Bubba Watson of the US and Francesco Molinari of Italy share the early lead in the opening round of the 92nd PGA Championship at Whistling Straits Thursday. Opening round was not able to complete due to darkness. Play will resume early Friday and the second round will begin as soon as the players finish their first rounds.

Tiger Woods sit three shots off the lead as the first round of the U.S. PGA Championship was suspended by darkness. Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari completed their opening rounds and share the lead at 4-under with Matt Kuchar, Ernie Els and Nick Watney. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson ended their first round with a one-under-par.

Tiger Woods, Y.E. Yang, defending champion and Vijay Singh start at 1:35 pm.

Ryan Moore, one of the current leaders plays at 1:45 pm with Francesco Molinari and Retief Goosen and at 1:55 pm Corey Pavin teams up with Camilo Villegas and Ian Poulter.

Will he win this time is doubtful question however. “Each and every day I’m trying to build on what I’m working on, it takes time.” Tiger Woods said. Tiger Woods strengthens his case for a Ryder cup wildcard. Rory McIlroy is just one shot off the lead (Europe 8/13 to win Ryder Cup).

Zach Johnson went to -8 par at end of day. Johnson said in an interview “It would be an honor, and I want to get on that team very, very bad. But you can justify the case for a number of guys. I’m not concerned about it. I’m going to let things fall where they fall. I feel like if I keep performing decent, then I’ll have a pretty good chance.”

The Deutsche Bank Championship is a PGA Tour golf tournament that occurs every year on Labor Day weekend.  It is held at the Tournament Players Club of Boston in Norton, Massachusetts.

The Deutsche Bank Championship will end at TPC Boston later today. Phil Mickelson goes into the final day tied for sixth place, five shots shy of leader Jason Day. The title sponsor, Deutsche Bank, has announced it will sponsor this event in Boston through 2010.

Unlike most tournaments, this tournament is intended to end on a Monday due to its scheduling near Labor Day. The purse for 2009 is $7,500,000, with $1,350,000 to the winner.
