South Africa’s ruling party says former president Nelson Mandela will be at the World Cup opening and closing matches. According to the report Mandela will attend Opening and Closing Ceremony both to be staged at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
Nelson Mandela had requested for four tickets from the board of the 2010 World Cup and has been granted. The former president turns 92 next month. Nelson Mandela campaigned for the World Cup to come to South Africa.

Shakira will be performing live together with a local group called Freshlyground. Other celebrities who are part of this year’s World Cup opening ceremony listings include Alica Keys, Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and Juanes from Colombia.
