300 of a scheduled 29,000 flights were likely to be canceled in Europe on Wednesday. Officials said on Wednesday that they were shutting down the airspace for safety reasons.

Britain and Ireland airspace were closing after a fresh cloud of ash arrived from the Icelandic volcano. Scottish and Northern Irish airports will be closed from 7am on Wednesday 5 April.
