Apple unveiled its first venture into social media, Ping, as well as a slew of updated iPods. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has launched a social network as element of the latest version of its iTunes software.
Ping as a social network for music, and what it does is let you use iTunes as a social network. Ping will allow users to follow their friends to find out what they’re listening to; and users can follow artists as well.
Ping is able to draw from a huge database. CEO Steve Jobs said: “we think this will be really popular very fast because 160 million people can switch it on today”. They will also be able to follow bands and get updates on their new releases, concert tours.
